Aftercare
IF WE HAVE USED DERMALIZE (SECOND SKIN)
- Keep the film on for 6 full days. Only remove early if you are having a reaction.
- It is likely that residue/plasma will build up inside the film (see example 1). This is completely normal. This will seep either its way out in the shower or gradually dry out (see example 2).
- On removal of the film when you reach day 6, keep the film flat and, picking up a corner, stretch the film rather than waxing it. This will break the bonds in the glue and allow it to come away more easily. It will likely break into smaller pieces where it has become brittle over the 6 days but keep at it until all the film is removed. You may also find this process easier in the shower to make the film a little more flexible.
- Once all the film is removed, give the area a wash with hot soapy water. Rinse and let air dry.
- Continue to wash the area daily and apply the provided aftercare cream (After Inked) to lightly moisturise the tattoo whenever it feels dry.
AVOID direct sunlight on your new tattoo for 4-6 weeks. Sun and discolour a fresh tattoo and cause issues with the healing process.
Going forwards, always apply 50SPF to your tattoos when in the sun to keep them looking fresh!
IF WE HAVE USED CLINGFILM
- Keep your tattoo wrapped overnight.
- In the morning, unwrap your tattoo and wash with hot water (as hot as you can stand without burning yourself) use a clean hand and un perfumed, antibacterial soap to wipe away any plasma/goo that has come to the surface of the skin. Do not use a flannel/loofa or anything abrasive.
- Once you have thoroughly washed any residue away your tattoo should look the same as any another part of your body and should not feel slippery to the touch. Ensure the area is thorough rinsed and there is no plasma or soap residue remaining. Let the area air dry or pat gently with a clean, dry towel.
- Continue to wash your tattoo 3 times a day.
- After 48 hours, you can lightly moisturise the tattoo whenever it feels dry using the provided aftercare cream (After Inked) . Less is more with aftercare cream, do not smother the area as this can interfere with the healing process. Continue with this until the area is completely healed
- Tattoos heal much like sunburn which means your new tattoo will peel, DO NOT pick the flaking skin as this will affect the healing process and pull out ink.
AVOID direct sunlight on your new tattoo for 4-6 weeks. Sun can discolour a fresh tattoo and cause issues with the healing process.
Going forwards, always apply 50SPF to your tattoos when in the sun to keep them looking fresh!
